'Who Are You?:' Woman Catches Thieves Stealing Neighbor’s G-Wagon. Then She Pursues On Foot

A Seattle woman went viral after sharing a story that seems almost too wild to believe: Her neighbor’s gold G-Wagon was stolen, and she confronted the thieves before they sped away. Then she turned to the internet for help.

User @caegfree, who recently joined TikTok, posted her first video about the stolen Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon late last week, asking viewers to help track down the culprits. The thieves purportedly not only made off with the luxury SUV but also hit and damaged her car in the process.

“Help me find these two tweakers who hit my car,” she wrote in the text overlay of her clip.

Eventually, the stolen G-Wagon was found, though it’s unclear whether @caegfree’s car has been repaired or if the suspects were ever caught. As of this writing, her debut video in the ongoing G-Wagon saga had racked up more than 11.8 million views.

What Happened to the G-Wagon?

According to the caption in her first clip, @caegfree’s neighbor’s G-Wagon was stolen on Oct. 23. She says she spotted the missing car while heading out for groceries and noticed two people sitting inside it in her apartment complex’s parking garage.

“When I saw it, I got out to talk to the people in it,” she explained.

That confrontation didn’t go as planned. The thieves sped off, clipping her car on their way out. @caegfree briefly chased them on foot before they got away, later showing the damage to her vehicle in a follow-up video. “Help us track down the stolen gold G-Wagon in Uwillage Seattle,” she wrote in the caption. “Any information leads can be crucial.”

One person who commented on her post included a photo of a G-Class, colloquially known as the G-Wagon, with a license plate that matches her description.

Though it’s still unclear whether the suspects were caught, @caegfree later confirmed the G-Wagon was recovered after a “tip from a viewer.” She didn’t specify what the tip was or identify the car’s owner, but her videos have since become a viral neighborhood mystery, with millions watching for updates.

Motor Theft Laws And Penalties In Washington

Stealing a car in Washington is treated as a serious offense. According to Hale Law Enterprises, auto theft is considered a Class B felony, and carries a potential sentence of up to 10 years in prison and fines as high as $20,000. Beyond the legal penalties, a conviction can leave a lasting mark, affecting employment prospects and certain civil rights long after the case is closed.

When the stolen vehicle is damaged in the process, the crime can escalate further. Damage to another person’s property is typically prosecuted as Malicious Mischief, and the severity of the charge depends on how much damage was done. If the repair costs are significant, prosecutors can file second-degree Malicious Mischief charges. This Class C felony carries a maximum sentence of up to five years in prison and an additional fine of up to $10,000.

The total punishment depends on a mix of factors, including the value of the car, the extent of the damage, and the defendant’s criminal history. Judges rely on Washington’s sentencing guidelines to determine how those factors add up. For anyone facing both theft and damage charges, the penalties can stack quickly—especially in cases involving luxury vehicles like the stolen G-Wagon.

Commenters Express Awe At Woman’s Quickness

Viewers who tuned in to @caegfree’s video—where she chased the alleged G-Wagon thieves on foot after they slammed into her car—were floored by how fast she moved and how steady her camera stayed amid the chaos.

“Are you chasing them ON FOOT???” one person exclaimed.

Another viewer marveled, “Steady camera and no heavy breathing. WHO ARE YOU?”

“You run fast as [expletive],” a third chimed in.

Someone else added, “You ran after them like the Terminator.”

Before @caegfree and a viewer’s tip purportedly helped recover the stolen car, many urged her to take the video to law enforcement.

“Dude, the license plate is LHU 265, just go to the police with it,” one advised.

Another pointed out, “This video alone would give the owner the ability to now do their own charges for theft. You have a hit-and-run charge. Two different cases with video evidence.”

Others were so impressed by her composure that they joked she has a future in television.

“Did you work for Maury before?” one viewer teased.

Another said, “In all seriousness and jokes aside, you would’ve been excellent as part of the Jerry Springer camera crew.”

A third person joked, “Someone call the Olympics, I found the next U.S. Gold medal sprinter.”
